This is not your mamma's Payless
Todays Look For Less is likely to make you wince at first mention. The idea of Payless makes many shoe lovers conjure up images of unbendable pleather goods and styles five years past their prime. But in a time when designers are chomping at the bit to hock their wears in discount retailers... everythings coming up Payless!

Frankly I was impressed when the company landed American Eagle and Champion for their active wear shoes. Now Payless has landed two of the hottest design houses of today. Abaeta and Lela Rose have both lent their expertise to the discount chain and it's yielded some really great items for fall.

This Champion city shoe is perfect for everything from running out to the mail box to running out for a day shopping. It comes in a few colors and it's a steal at $19.99.

American Eagle bringing back the sneaker wedge while keeping their preppy style on this funky favorite.  $19.99.

These Lela Rose beauties are as good as mine. The Finsbury Mary Jane Pump pairs rich fabrics with spectator details to complement the season’s hot menswear trend. Also comes in herringbone. Either one you choose... $25.00!!!

Payless isn't just shoes but unlike their footwear the quality and styling of the bags have stalled for the most part. The leather goods still look and feel cheap and the styles tend to remain either too conservative or over the top 'Baby Phat' tacky. However, there are a few canvas items from Airwalk that, at under $20, make great casual carriers.
