On September 10th, 1907 Herbert Marcus, Sr., along with sister Carrie Marcus Neiman and her husband, A. L. Neiman, went in search of a new business venture. The trio took a pass on investing in the then fledgling Coca-Cola company. For this reason, early company CEO Stanley Marcus was quoted in 1957 as saying Neiman Marcus was "founded on bad business judgment."

First lets clear up a few misconceptions about the luxurious wrap. The name pashmina comes from Pashmineh, made from Persian pashm ("wool"). This wool comes from a special breed of goat indigenous to high altitudes of the Himalayan mountains.  And although westerners have adopted the name when refering to the popular wraps, the word itself is intended for the fabric. A wrap containing no pashmina fabric is just a wrap.
