Nanette Lepore Spring 2009

A delicate collection in an "exotic garden" palette of poppy, turquoise, and jade. Ruffles showed up in virtually every look, from a supersoft cropped leather jacket with fluttery sleeves to silk skirts with seriously flouncy hems. Lepore took a bow with her young daughter, both in the same slogan shirts as the staff, except craftily reworked with ribbon, lace, and sequins. The DIY touch was a reminder of the Garment Center spirit activists are trying to save.
