Cannes is one of the times of the year that we look most forward to living vicariously through Hollywood stars (fashion wise at least).
The never ending red carpet appearences combined with the european flare that comes with being in the south of France can't help but instill excitement and style in both those who get to dress up for these events and us as the mere onlookers.
This will probably be the first of two or three parts of pieces on cannes so if red carpet is your celeb look of choice, we'll have more for you soon.
Not usually a fan of fitted tiered long gows, but Kristin Scott Thomas pulls this one of effortlessly and the color could not be more perfect for her skin.
We couldn't get our hands on the full length shot of Robin Wright Penn, but from the knees up she looked completely stunning in a basic black number.
We haven't seen Rosanna Arquette in ages but she is workin' it in sparkly gold sequins. We have never seen her lok this good. Wow!
Love the top half of this dress, not so much a fan of the bottom. We know, we know, it's the style as of lately, but if this had simply been made a full length gown, Hilary Swank would have been flawless in our opinions.
We wish Eva Herzigova had gone for something floor length as well. She looks a little too juvinile and with the hair not really styled and the layers upon layers of black tulle a little too punkish for Cannes.
What's a black tie event without that one random guest that has no business being there? It's only natural Pheobe Price had to make an appearence.
Italian Actress and model (she did the campaign for Miss Sixty not long ago you may remember) Asia Argento can honestly just do no wrong. Stunning.
We wish Evangeline Lily has chosen something that had a bit of a younger look to it, but the color is great on her and considering those amazing shoes, we're willing to forgive her.
No, it's not snowing in Cannes, but they did cart in fake snow for the Christmas Carol event. Jenny McCarthy could have done something a tad more formal but the cut and color are appropriate enough that she can get away with it. Plus this is a kids movie premiere anyways.
Last and certainly not least, la piece de resistance, la creme de la creme, the <insert your random French reference to give relevence to an article about events taking place in France> quotation here.
Penelope Cruz. Always fabulous, always classic, never dull. *sigh*
