American Ballet Theater Opening Night Gala

With all the hype surrounding Cannes, we hadn't planned on covering anything from the American Ballet Theater Opening Night Gala but hen we actually saw some of the gons present, it would have really been a shame not to.

We were nothing short of impressed when it came not only the styles of dresses chosen but also some of the color choices - some unusual but amazing in regards to how it really brought some of these dresses to life.

Claire Danes kept it simple but still very elegant. she's never been a huge risk taker when it comes to red carpets or special events but she always seens to know what works best for her and this dress does just that. We will say we miss her reddish hair though.....

The detailing on Eva Larue's gown is incredible. It's hard to tell from the distance whether it is some sort of brocade or beading but either way this champagne color (which on a lot of other people could have ended up making them look very washed out) really stands out against her golden skn. The bodice could not be anymore flattering for her shape - it's like it was meant just for her. The shoulder wrap is a lovely finishing touch.

A dark blue-green would probably be the LAST color on earth I would ever expect anyone to wear an evening  dress in, but Ivanka Trump took a risk on it and wow, did it pay off.  The train behind her is just long enough to give it some added elegance with out it looking a tad too over top. F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S.

Kelly Ripa played it safe, but  this cut and color works well for her and she isn't one to go to out of the box as far as style goes usually. The little bit of tan helped to create a nice contrast and really make that blue pop against her hair and skin.

It is SO rare we get to see Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order SVU all glammed up. She actually is a very stunning women but sometimes we can associate the character a little too much with the person (In my mind I already see her in some sort of pant suit, sweating down a suspect) but she is dazzling in this turquise mermaid style grown and that little band of blue along the bustline adds just the right touch. Amazing.
