Art and protest stem from nothing more than a people's need for positive change. In the case of art – it’s a quest for beauty; in the case of protest, it’s striving for a good and normal life.  This is what I fight for.” - Alexander Gligorich, Founder, Carrot Clothing

In a time when the world is facing potential economic collapse, conflict in Iran is rising to the point that the pot is about to boil over and people are more concerned with what Britney Spears is doing as opposed to the conduct of their government, we have to say we were more than refreshed when we came upon Carrot clothing and their manifesto.  Maybe we are a bit biased though.  Both our mother and Alexander Gligorich, founder of Carrot Clothing, come from the same area of the world – a now dismantled Yugoslavia.

Carrot Clothing calls themselves “a safe-house for revolutionary minds and designs” and was formed in the late 90’s in Serbia (former Yugoslavia), during a time of mass political unrest and injustice. It was in this environment that Alex Gligorich began printing his own line of T-Shirts for family and friends which featured anti-war messages. It is both shocking, yes in some ways not shocking at all, given the state of the country that such an act landed Alex in jail; His charges alleged that he had been ‘spreading terrorist policies’.

In the years since, Alex has used a network of internationally recognized skateboarders, street artists as well as other creative co-conspirators to collectively form Carrot Clothing, a brand whose essence, in their words, “is based upon the underdog, family relationships between art, skate, and street communities.”

In only two years, Carrot’s reach has gone remarkably global and become a well-known lifestyle brand in over 20 countries. Getting coverage from numerous magazines and websites worldwide, artistic contributors to Carrot have included renowned street such as Steve "ESPO" Powers, Superblast, 123Klan, Michael Sieben, Jim Phillips to name a few, and there are more on the way.

“Carrot promises to continue on its journey with the hope of inspiring people in the same way that they themselves have been inspired by the remarkable feats of others.”
