We were huge fans of the Sex and the City TV show, and when we say hug we mean huge. We mean staying up until 4am during while still in college, watching episodes back to back and making it to school in the morning on 3 hours sleep. We mean forcing our boyfriend at the time to watch it so much that even he became a massive fan of the show and various idiocies as the four women bumbled their ways through work, friendship, dating and sex.
We were surprised, though not surprised, that we left maybe 15 after the start of the feature film that came out last year. Not surprised really because we had seen stills from the movie - particularly that of the superfluous outfits donned by lead character Carrie Bradshaw time and time – and something just seems entirely off. The extremely stylish lead who had once made audiences green with envy over her wardrobe and shoes now galloped around vainly in the form of some New York socialite in over the top ensembles that were not over the top in terms of being stylish, fashion forward and creative. They were over the top in terms of making her look like a rich idiot.
Here’s just one of the many poor wardrobe choices from promo stills.
In the end, we get it. The Wardrobe people were trying to project some idea of the high society these women keep their company in, but if it that wasn’t represented on the televisionshow itself, then why represent it in a film based on the television show?

The outfit you used as an example of the bad costumes of the first movie...wasn't in the movie. Maybe it was a test, or a deleted scene or something, but not in the movie. Of course you walked out, right? So you wouldn't know.
