Seriously, how cute is Matilda Ledger? We aren’t really the type to have children of our own and generally aren’t too fond of children for the most part, though we do have to admit that the idea of being able to dress one up like a doll in all sorts of awesome gear is definitely appealing.  But even we are smart enough to know that right there is proof that parenting isn’t for us.  Unlike dolls, when you have children you can’t just throw them in the back of the closet and forget about them once you’re bored with them or want to go out drinking until noon the next day (in a perfect world, yes).  Still, when we see a happy kid in their sunshiny rain slicker, bopping around with their nautical themed umbrella on a cloudy day, even we have to admit that it warms our ice cold heart.  The amazing thing about being a kid is that if your parents are awesome, fashion wise anything goes.  They aren’t going to make you wear some bulls#it with ducks and bows on it.  They let you make your own choices, encourage you to be a ‘free spirit’ and ‘express yourself’.   If you want to wear a Spiderman costume to go get groceries for supper, they won’t argue. Getting dressed in the morning results in something akin to what the family’s kooky and crazy aunt/uncle wears on a daily basis: putting on as many different layers, textures and colors as humanly possible, mismatched socks, and some sort of insane hat (and not because it is cold outside but simply just because).

Remember that trend from the 80’s where people would wear one color each of different Chuck Taylor Converse shoes? $20 says some 6 year old was all up on that s#it before anyone else.
