Betsey, We Love You

We know we have covered Betsy Johnson before but there is something about her that just kind of screams f#ck you when it comes to her fashion choices. And not in a way that says ‘Hey, I’m trying to get attention, so look at me!” but more in a way that says, this who I am, deal with it. Once thing we have always found fascinating about Betsey’s fashion choices is that the line she designs is never, ever as crazy as the items she wears herself, and we think that says a lot about her as a designer on the whole. One of the most important things a designer needs to realize is that just because they love something doesn’t mean the buyers of their line will. It’s an exercise in objectivity that takes an amazing amount of restraint and it is impressive that after all these years, Betsey Johnson still manages to do so.
