Saturday night was the celebratory event for the 30th Anniversary of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and given that, it was only natural that a slew of local celebrities joined in on the fun and naturally come out looking their best. We will say though that we were a bit disappointed overall and we were hoping that given the nature of the event we would see things a bit more theatrical or superfluous. Not over the top ridiculousness, but we feel that overall a lot of the ladies seemed to have a played it a little safer than we would have liked.  Here are some of what we felt are the more memorable pictures.

Zoe Saldana always seems to remind of us a softer Jada Pinkett with half the attitude. Regardless of celebrity similarities, she is looking absoutly stunning in this glittery black floor length gown.

We are huge fans of Eva Mendes as you will know if you read this site at all, and though we don't hate this look completely, we do think  that this dress ages her just a tad. It's rare we see her looking her actual age of 34 years, but then again really, is there anything wrong with that? No.

We have never got the whole 'Chloe Sevigny is some sort of fashion muse' thing and this picture is not exception. She dresses like an old lady.

Christina Ricci was under the radar while she was engaged for a minute there, but she seems to have been out and about more than ever lately and looking better than she has in years.  Hard to believe she was Wednesday Adams all those years ago.

If there is one resulting thing we are happy about from the movie The Wrestler it's that Marisa Tomei is back on the scene.  Gorgeous, talented and funny, she is one of our fave Hollywood actresses and we can never see enou2009/11/16/FP_4013593_RIJ_MOCA_GALA_111409.jpg

Shirley Manson is one of those rock babes that has manged to age and mature but still keep her overall look and edge and that is not an easy thing to do without looking like you are trying to be a 19 year old. This dress is SO her, yet SO classy at the same time.

How adorable are Pharell and Takashi Murikami.

Daisy Fuentes has been around more and more lately and we wonder if she is working o something new. Regardless, she's still rocking her gorgeous curves and wearing a dress that does nothing but highlight them. A very unusual color for a full length gown, but it looks amazing on her.

Why oh why Rose McGowen went and got all that work on her face is beyond us. The dress is fantastic though.

This is the best we think we have seen Jessica Alba look post baby and the we love the color pop of those ruby red shoes.

Last but not least, Kate Beckinsale is looking drop dead gorgeous and she hands down gets our top pick for Best Dressed of the evening.
