Although we’ve been blessed with amazingly mild weather in November, we all know what’s coming for us. The white, fluffy and cold snowflakes will soon be falling on our faces and we’ll be freezing again. We can either run away from it and move down south for a few months or, for the most of us, face it with the right equipment. A winter coat is usually the most expensive purchase of the season, so we should choose wisely what we buy. Lucky for us, warm coats have gotten trendier and more fashionable lately, so you can finally get comfort and style, all at once.
What I love about this year’s trends is the use of natural materials like suede, leather, wool and fur. Natural fibers have an extra warmth quality, never go out of style and look good with any outfit. Since wool is less expensive than the latter, I suggest going for some color to spice up your winter look, like Elizabeth Hurley in her orange peacoat.
If you’re looking to buy a leather jacket, get one with fur or wool underlining to add warmth. Since these materials can be more pricy, pick one in a neutral tone like black, caramel or tan. If you’re against natural fur, you can find some great recycled fur designs out there. Fake fur is also an option, but not as warm and lasting than the real thing. Here’s an example of a black sheepskin coat with lamb fur inside, a style you can wear for years to come.
