Things I Love Thursday

My boyfriend aka le Dish (yesssss hahah); people watching; making mixtapes in my head; compliments; underwear as outerwear; being so involved in writing Love & Sequins that I didn’t even notice the Dish walking into the coffee shop!; thunderstorms; big type; stylish people on bicycles; neon toenails; fake (but not orange!) tans; big icy juice blends; unexpected invitations; the teenage boy on my block who says, “Looking good rockstar” whenever I walk past; listening to Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness, hello blast from the past!; dressing up like a droog as standard daily wear (bowler hat + drawn on lower lashes)...

Fantasising about shoes; immaculate pedicures & chipped manicures; Jay-Z for speaking out against auto-tune, publicity stunt or no, someone with some musical authority had to do it & I’m glad it was him!; coffee shop productivity; buying new dresses; remembering Michael Jackson; long phone conversations with Nubby; mad chilling with Hank; napping; 5htp; fun surprise packages in the mail; new jobs (!!!); bunny slippers; monster feet slippers; getting dressed up & going to fancy parties with the Dish & having a really good time; my friennnnnnds — so good to me & so rad, & finally, looking forward to 4th of July weekend… I don’t really know what to expect other than fireworks but it will be exciting I’m sure!

Love & Sequins #3 Is Live!

GET OFF THE INTERNET

We keep distancing ourselves from one another — secluding ourselves in our houses, turning down social invitations, wearing headphones all over the city — but at the same time trying to reach out digitally & immerse ourselves in one another’s lives via Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, instant messenger. We send endless text messages but never pick up the phone, & keep up with our friends by reading their Facebook status instead of going out with them to dinner.

...& then we wonder why we all feel so lonely & isolated.

There is nothing to wonder about!

The internet is an amazing tool, but NOTHING competes with sharing physical space with another person! You can read status updates until your eyes drop out of your head but you’ll never learn as much about your friend as you would from just going out for a drink.

The internet is not real life.
